Culture Flipper is looking for a Japanese UX Writer (remote).

We need a Japanese UX Writer with 2+ years of demonstrated experience.

UX Writer Responsibilities:

  • Identify and digest the intended message behind translated text by working with our bilingual Language Experts
  • Write clear, concise UI texts and conversational scripts such as microcopy (for interface buttons and dropdown menus), error messages, guides (step-by-step tutorials and onboarding decks), and notifications preferably for an e-commerce marketplace that targets Gen Z
  • Perform user research and case studies to write copy of great usability
  • Ensure consistency across surfaces and platforms in alignment with the client’s voice and tone guidelines
  • Advise the team on user-centered design (UCD) and best UX writing practices


  • Must care about good user experience
  • 2+ years of in-product writing experience (UI, settings, tooltips, etc.)
  • Thorough understanding of e-commerce
  • Must be resourceful and research-savvy
  • An ability to follow and update copy guidelines
  • Design sensibility
  • A passion for consistency and tracking what’s working
  • A positive team player
  • Must be excited to work with a multicultural team
  • Must be a native Japanese speaker that has experience with US English
  • Copywriting, journalism or technical writing experience is a plus
  • Marketing background is a plus
